How do Arctic landscapes develop in the face of rapid climate change?
Most of our understanding on how landscapes develop comes from temperate regions. However polar and high mountain cold regions, where the ground seasonally freezes and thaws, challenge many of the fundamental principles of geomorphology, limiting our ability to project landscape will develop.
In my research I am combining laboratory experiments, field observations and numerical modelling to examine the fundamental physics driving how the frozen landscapes will respond to different climate forcing working from the grain-scale up.
